El Dux de Venecia

With more than a century of uninterrupted operations, this venue maintains the architecture and layout of the traditional Mexican cantina. Its interior preserves swinging wooden doors, mosaic floors with original patterns, an extensive bar covered in tiles, and beveled mirrors that visually expand the consumption rooms. The design rejects elements of modern nightlife to prioritize old-school table gatherings.

The bohemia is mobile and works à la carte; depending on the day and time, acoustic guitar trios, accordionists, and requintos circulate among the diners offering a repertoire of classic bolero and traditional music. The organic volume of the strings allows the melodies to accompany without interrupting the chat.

Access is free and lacks ropes, bouncers, or door fees. It is the indicated destination for those looking to experience historic cantina life in the Azcapotzalco borough with a strong drink in hand and live strings, taking advantage of the hours when traveling musicians are available in the rooms.
